Summer Arts Series for Youth 2024 - Senior Group

Our Summer Arts Camp is a one-week encounter with visual as well as performing arts. Our campers will be given the flexibility to choose their own art experience from the following classes:

- THEATER CLASS: This class is a blast! Students will learn all the elements of stage performance plus be in a real performance. This all morning class will teach our students how to project their voices as well as the art of blocking on the stage. The students will have costumes and will do a play following the art show on Friday. It is a jam-packed week of learning fun and you become a stage star!

- ORIGAMI I: Our origami expert, Susie Walker will guide our beginning origami students in the art. If you think you would like to learn the art of paper folding this class is for you!

- ORIGAMI II: We have added this class as many of our previous students have taken ORIGAMI I and would like to expand their origami abilities. If you enjoyed last year’s class or have had previous experience with origami this is the class for you!

- MAKING A GIANT MURAL FOR THE STAGE: Wow! What fun it will be to create a beautiful mural for the stage performance. The class will work together as a team, using each student’s talent and creative thoughts to inspire this mural. Ben Sellers and Brian Boles will make it fun and easy!

- LET’S DRAW SOMETHING: If drawing is your thing then this is the class for you. You will have two instructors to guide and teach you new techniques to improve your drawing skills. This workshop in drawing will be a fun art experience.

- EXTRAORDINARY THREE-D ART: If you really like to get into your art this is the class for you! We will create a pizza out of clay and glaze while learning about the artist who painted the flying pizzas. We will dabble in paper Mache,’ create 3-D wind chimes while integrating the styles of famous abstract artist. This class will be a winner!

- WILD AND WONDERFUL ABSTRACT ART: If you love color and design this class will be for you. Tina Durbin is a master teacher and lover of abstract art. Her favorite abstract artist is Kandinsky! Be ready to paint like a real abstract artist because you can with Tina’s help!

- MAJOR MUSIC FUN: If you like music and want to enjoy exploring many facets of music then you will be delighted with the musical art class. You will develop your singing voice and maybe learn to play an instrument. As a bonus you will give our audience a sample of your skills on Friday at the performance. Our music students always delight us with their performing talent!

Disclaimer: Every effort will be given to placing our campers in the classes they want. However, if a class is filled they will be placed in another class.
